    This reproduction is inspired by a rare type of sabre proposed during Empire period, by company: "Au Dieu Mars", Dupont foubisseur, rue Saint Denis in Paris".
    Spider web as symbol of staff officers. Eagle, of course, symbol of Empire!
    Inverted quillons, one is linked to pommel with eagle by an old chain.
    Only chain and, maybe, pommel are old productions, all other parts have been recently made.
    Blade in mamelouk style, engraved Klingenthal and numerous egyptian symbols.
    Arms trophys and lion heads on brass parts of scabbard.
    Rare type for highest rank of officers.
    We will do only one sabre like this one.

    1st Empire rifle, controlled during Louis Philippe era (1830-1848), to be used by "garde nationale". Wood is stamped with a nice cock. Baionett corresponds to 1822 type rifle. Numerous stamps from a private supplier. All metal pieces have been varnished many years ago and colour is now brown, we began to take off this varnish to show that it is in perfect condition under this lay...but some work remains...we sell it as it is.
    Less expensive than a copy and bayonet is included.
    Thick canon, everything is working, only baguette to clean rifle is lacking.

  • Heavy cavalry, senior officer sabre, Preval type.

    Vers 1830, le Colonel Préval préconisait l'emploi pour la Cavalerie de ligne et de réserve d'une forte lame à section triangulaire surmontée d'une massive garde enveloppante à huit branches.
    Ce modèle ne fut pas accepté mais fut quand même produit en infimes quantités par des fourbisseurs pour certains officiers.
    Vulgairement, on peut le nommer "modèle 1831".
    S'il ne reste que quelques exemplaires, à compter sur le doigt d'une main, de sabres constitués de la garde et de la lame du Colonel, on retrouve parfois quelques modèles de fantaisie surmontés par des gardes plus communes.
    Le sabre présenté ici a été produit par la Manufacture de Chatellerault en juin 1855.
    En 30 ans de collection, c'est la première fois que je propose un tel sabre, vous avez peu de chances que l'occasion se représente.

    Very small part of leather lacking at base of grip.
    Main branch slightly bumped.
    Weight: 2514 g.

    Very interesting inscriptions.
    Imp le was erased and replaced by Rle during first restoration, you can see that metal is slightly thinner at this place.
    "Mfture Rle du Klingenthal mai 1813" on blade.
    Many stamps of Krantz, Bick and François Lobstein.

    So this sabre was surely used during first restoration, then "100 jours" and then second restoration!
    It is a part of a very troubled period of French history.
