Sabre for officer of "garde nationale", Louis Philippe period, same guard as briquets de la Garde Impériale
Historical and original piece.
Military personnel are keen on tradition and like to revive the glorious past of their ancestors. This is how weapons belonging to prestigious corps found themselves recycled or reproduced decades after their abandonment as standard weapons.
Here's a good example: this briquet saber of the foot grenadier of the Imperial Guard, reused under Louis Philippe, notably by the National Guard.
The object is over 170 years old, which gives it a beautiful patina. The blade is shorter than that of the Empire briquet, measuring 67 cm for a total length of 80 cm.
It is pleasantly decorated with floral motif engravings
The scabbard is also period-correct.
