Uniform of french "hussard de la mort". New, never worn

This outfit was made for a client who commissioned us to create about twenty costumes for a mini-museum in his home.

It has never been worn.

Its measurements are as follows: Head circumference: 57.5 cm. Neck circumference: 40 cm.
Waist circumference, at the navel: 90 cm. Chest circumference: 104 cm. Total height: 175 cm.

It includes: Mirliton (headpiece). Wig with side clips. Dolman, pelisse, Hungarian-style breeches, sword belt/sabretache with its cartridge box front (it does not have a back pocket; this was our client's choice. It can be modified, but at your expense).

This is an outfit that has absolutely nothing in common with the uniforms traditionally used in the French army... Naturally, it's Germanic in inspiration!

At the time of the revolution, the Duke of Brunswick threatened the population of Paris with severe reprisals, such as slaughtering all Parisians if anyone dared to harm the sacred person of the king!
To carry out this threat, he deployed his Death's Hussars, renowned for their ferocity.
Undeterred, the French raised a regiment of French Death's Hussars, all volunteers, to demonstrate that they weren't afraid of these threats.
The cavalrymen equipped themselves at their own expense and distinguished themselves through their atrocities, particularly during the Vendée Wars.
The regiment, whose numbers were never very high, was eventually disbanded, and its survivors transferred to more regular regiments. The regiment's overall lifespan was a few months, but its image remains striking, and characteristic of a period when all kinds of experiments were being tried.
