Sabre briquet, Empire type, with new scabbard, made between 1808 and 1811

Engravings on guard. stamp M with a star for, claude Marion i,nspector defween decemebr 1808 and 1811. Other stamps, not always easy to read in different places.
New scabbard.
Some oxydization on blade, " Manuf Klingenthal ?????".

Total length 735 mm, blade 590 mm.

This was kind of the "Swiss Army knife" of the Empire soldier. It was used to chop wood as well as to cut up food. Although they were absolutely useless when fighting against cavalry sabres, infantrymen would nevertheless hold on to it. Complies with contemporary rules.
