These blades were originally made to equip swords that could be fitted with a ricasso, such as the cup rapier or Pappenheimer.
The tang originally measures 20 cm.
One of the blades has never been mounted, and the tang has retained its original length.
The other blades have been used, and some traces of wear can be seen on the edges... Prices are commensurate.
This type of blade is sold by Planète Escrime for €109 new.

Maraging steel is used to make premium blades in sport fencing. Its balance of flexibility and hardness is ideal for allowing the blade to bend without breaking upon contact, avoiding the pitfall of being too soft and reducing the precision of the point.
Unlike ordinary steels, maraging steels do not derive their strength from their carbon content, but rather from the precipitation of intermetallic compounds. The term "maraging" itself is a combination of "martensitic" and "aging," referring to this two-step process that gives these alloys extraordinary properties.
