Sabre of general Lasalle. Blade in wootz. Mamelouk/oriental style.
Price for the saber alone; other accessories such as the sabretache, belt, vest, etc., are not included in the price.
Thanks to Mr. Bilbao, who kindly shared photos of the saber we provided, along with the various other accessories, also made by us, which can be seen in the table below.
Copy of the sabre of general Lasalle, kept at the Musée des Invalides and which appears in the painting representing Lasalle during the Battle of Stettin.
We reproduced the real sabre, as you can see it in collections of french national army museum, not its representation on painting, more curved.
This saber has a very finely patterned damascus blade. To reproduce them we used wootz, which is a metal whose mines have been exhausted for 3 centuries.
By melting old cannonballs, we were able to produce some exceptional blades which have the appearance of the saber of this prestigious general, symbol of light cavalry, in all its excesses.
It is an oriental model, like those of the Mameluks, very popular with officers of the Empire who were able to appreciate the qualities of such swords in Egypt.
Note the types of engraved designs, very unusual on blades from this period.
Lasalle didn't do much like everyone else. He was the first to wear breeches whose legs ended in fake boots.
Model which would become the regulatory model for many riders, a few decades later

Proposal of swordknot to accompany General Lassale's saber.
General Lassale's original saber is accompanied, in its display case at Les Invalides, by a very complicated swordknot which ends with numerous tassels decorated with fragments of red coral.
We have given up on offering such a strap which could have cost half the price of the sword and is not necessarily of interest to collectors of swords.
On the other hand, we found in the old stocks of the David Establishments, straps ending in a tassel in a shape very close to those which sometimes adorned the sabers of the Mamluks.
These swordknots are not very expensive and the model is interesting.

Troop, An XI, light cavalry sabre, 1st Empire
Bronze mount of the hunter type with a long-tailed cap, three-pronged guard, and crossguards.
Sheepskin-covered fore-knuckle with brass olives. Numerous hallmarks and markings on the guard.
Curved blade with a wide hollow face, marked with three hallmarks of the Klingenthal Manufactory: Kranz, Lobstein, and Bisch, all corresponding to individuals active during the same period as indicated by the engraving on the back of the blade: "Manuf Imp du Klingenthal Septembre 1813."
Very solid scabbard. The stinger is entirely characteristic of the model used during the Empire; it is even one of the criteria for detecting copies. It is wider at the bottom than at the top, which makes sense, as it is the lower part that potentially rubs against the ground. Traces of three hallmarks even remain on this same stinger. A fine piece, in the model of a light cavalry hunter saber, typical of the last years of the First Empire.
Weight with scabbard: 2488g.
Total length: 1020 mm, including a blade length of 885 mm.
Apart from a few dents on the scabbard, it is rare in such condition. The price is well justified.
From the collection of an Imperial general. Purchased from one of his descendants, we will provide the name to the buyer.

Pistol: Garde du corps du roi, 2 nd type, rare copy by Pedersoli
We couldn't find any source indicating that Pedersoli had produced this type of pistol.
One of our customers, an informed enthusiast on the subject, confirmed that the Pedersoli company had indeed produced such a pistol, but in limited quantities, making it a rarity that you're unlikely to see again in the future.
The finish is particularly meticulous: beautiful blond varnished wood, mottled barrel (irregularity in appearance), the flint strikes impeccably and produces abundant sparks.
We haven't tested it for shooting, but it was produced for that purpose; its beautiful overall appearance indicates a good condition.
You can have it tested by a licensed gunsmith if you wish; the test should be conclusive.
Overall length: 35 cm, including a 20 cm barrel. Weight (with flint): 1069 g

Original sword for officer, 1 st empire.
A fine, so-called uniform sword, with a board characteristic of the evolution of sword handles from the Revolution to the end of the Empire.
The board, which was symmetrical and lyre-shaped under the ancien régime, narrowed in the part of the guard that rested against the body, to the point that this part was eventually cut almost entirely off, so as not to hinder movement.
This sword reaches the end of this evolution with the counter handle, which remains as a remnant.
Once fitted with a new scabbard, you can use this sword in historical reenactments.
WARNING: While the blade was indeed designed for combat, it was over 200 years ago!
If you break it while using it for combat, we will not replace it.
Total length: 95 cm.

English cavalry sabre, WW1, 1908 type, so called "Patton"
After the Mle 1899 saber, too large and heavy for the cavalry, came the Model 1908, first developed for the American cavalry by a certain Patton, who would have an extraordinary destiny, including a major role in the evolution of the Second World War.
With a very futuristic appearance for the time, it was almost never used; loading machine guns from horseback did not produce very satisfactory results.
The scabbard is heavily oxidized, with a visible hole and missing splints, but the markings are clearly visible on the heel.
The hilt is in good condition with its original green paint.
Emblematic of the innovative weapons of the "Great War" in their design.
Total length: 110 cm

Medieval-style sword. Good old blade. Viollet-le-Duc period?
At first glance, you might think, "Well, this looks like a medieval sword."
Looking through the documentation, it doesn't exactly match any model from this period.
The blade, however, is a good old blade (still very sharp), as used on strong swords in the 17th and 18th centuries.
It is therefore likely a remounting of a good blade, on a re-creation from the second half of the 19th century, which is not uninteresting from a collection point of view.
Total length 102 cm, including a blade length of 88 cm. Blade and guard heavily oxidized. Without scabbard. Uncommon.
Approximately 4,000 medieval swords have survived. The probability of finding an authentic one is very low... In the meantime...New

Jacket of cadet of Saint Cyr (officers school), with black armband (WWI ?) + plate for 1875 shako
Includes a jacket, moth-eaten and unstitched at the collar (see photos), oxydized buttons to clean if you wish to do so yourself, and a rare 1875 model shako badge.
On the left arm, a mourning armband, not specific to the Great War, since it was already authorized by regulations in the late 19th century, to be worn on the left arm in cases of family mourning.
There was, of course, mourning among the military even before the Great War, but few French families were untouched by the death of a loved one in combat, starting in 1914. It was likely during this period that the wearer of this uniform added this mark of mourning to their uniform.
Waist measurement: 74 cm.
Chest measurement: 88 cm. (for a very slim person!)
Interesting for the collection.

Auteurs: Jacques Adélaïde-Merlande, Antoine Métral, Isaac Louverture.
Editeur Karthala. 13,50 x 21,50 cm.

100 Fr Bonaparte note against the backdrop of the painting by David that inspired him.
Napoleon never had a French banknote bearing his portrait, nor a Paris street named after him.
Bonaparte, on the other hand, was much more respectable, and he was entitled to both...
The banknote depicting him is polychrome and printed intaglio.
Bonaparte's choice was obvious since he founded the Banque de France in 1800.
Clément Serveau took as his model the Unfinished Portrait of Bonaparte, a painting by Jacques-Louis David painted in 1798.
The first banknote, the 10,000 franc Bonaparte, was issued on December 1, 1955, and put into circulation on December 11, 1956, by the Banque de France.
On October 30, 1958, following the transition to the Fifth Republic and the introduction of the "New Franc," which saw the value of the franc multiplied by 100, the banknotes issued that day were overprinted with the red inscription « contre-valeur de 100 nouveaux francs ». These banknotes are rare and expensive.
Later, banknotes of this model bore the inscription 100 NF on the front and 100 on the back, within the frames indicating their values.
Printed from March 1959 to April 1964, this banknote ceased to be legal tender on April 30, 1971.
We offer one copy of this banknote in a frame that showcases it ,and will find its place in a Napoleonic collection.

French venerable master , free masson, circa 1900. Choice 2. No lining, some colour moved.
This "collar" has never been worn and is not finished on the lining, it was used as a model to allow customers to choose from the different variations offered.
It is especially interesting to see the quality of the productions of the time, which are superb artisanal achievements, compared to the mass productions "made in Asia".
Unfortunately, over time, infiltrations have discolored the top of the cord a little...price to match.
For the collection, very decorative, especially in a frame.

Jacket of "grand uniform" of polytechnique school...with trousers of Saint Cyr school - copie
Beautiful old-fashioned polytechnician jacket, with roxydized collar embroidery, otherwise good.
With its trousers, a waistcoat, and its cocked hat, preserved in its original box (cockade faded).
Very good for the collection...but also for the stage, as this uniform has retained the cut of the Belle Époque.
For a piece featuring a "handsome soldier," very, very slim by today's standards, this outfit would be perfect.
The grenade on the collar replaced the crowns from 1903 onward, so this outfit is later than that, possibly contemporary with the First World War.
All of this is wool and of a quality difficult to find these days.
Jacket for a chest measurement of 84 cm. Breeches for a waist measurement of 72 cm. Matching waistcoat.New

Banknote of 100 Francs, 1960 or 1961 in an Empire green and gold frame
The frame may sometimes hide the side edges of the note, but the note is well preserved in its entirety under the frame.
-
Epaulettes troops, used till now.
The model is too wide at its outer edge to be used in reenactment during the First Empire period.

Total length 17 cm, body width 6 cm, maximum width 11 cm

Plates of "SLOM". Regiments of the royal army. Hand painted. Unique pieces.
André Słomczyński, known as André Slom, born on July 9, 1844 in Bordeaux and died on December 27, 1909 in Paris, is a French painter, engraver, illustrator and cartographer of Polish origin. A former communard, he lived for a time as a refugee in Switzerland.
Returning to France after the amnesty law of 1881, he drew for several famous French magazines of the time, including L'Illustration, Le Monde illustré...Etc.
At the request of Pierre de Coubertin, he drew the "Olympic Diploma" for the International Committee in 1901. He is therefore a recognized artist during the "Belle Époque".
His specialty, which interests us more particularly in this circumstance, is uniformology.
He creates on demand, notably for the Invalides and for the association "La Sabretache", but also for individuals who are fans of unpublished works, paintings of uniforms with a great concern for historical veracity.
These are the paintings, which are each time made individually, that we are offering you today.
You are not likely to find exactly the same painting in another collection, they were all painted individually.
