Braid flower of lotus in metal - 56 mm - Old French manufacturing - Per meter

A magnificent piece of passementerie, though its original purpose is unknown.

The braid is metallic (gold or silver) and incorporates a colored weft thread—appearing either in the center or along the outer bands—which gives it a distinctive hue. Additionally, the center of the braid features flower motifs (resembling lotuses) in a metallic color that contrasts with that of the braid itself.

Grand cordon (new) with original jewel of commandeur of Légion d'Honneur, second Empire. - copie

The decoration is indeed Second Empire, but the center is not made of gold!
This type of piece—without a gold center—was indeed manufactured, though it is rarer than the gold-centered versions.
From a collector's standpoint, it ought to be more valuable; however, the absence of gold reduces the price compared to the €1,200–€1,500 range commanded by the gold-centered version.
It measures 60 mm in diameter.
We have paired it with a more modern ribbon, though it is the correct style for the piece.
Beautiful craftsmanship; in good condition, save for minor enamel repairs that are virtually invisible to the naked eye.
The design is very close to that of the First Empire; the bow beneath the laurel wreath tie is nearly identical to the First Empire version. Only the small eagles on the wreath mark a significant difference.

Loops for belt of light cavalry officer

Our supplier manufactured these pieces with somewhat weak rear attachment systems.
We sell them without any guarantee of durability if used to attach belt hangers for historical reenactment purposes.
However, these accessories are perfectly suitable for outfitting a mannequin.
They will also work fine if you simply slide the leather belt through the loops.
If you intend to use these mounts for reenactment, you will need to have the rear fittings replaced with sturdier posts.
We will not accept any claims regarding the durability of these items; please consider this notice carefully.
The eagle plates were cast from extremely rare period originals.
For a belt carrying only a saber, two mounts may suffice; three are required to carry both a saber and a sabretache.

Uniform of a medical officer cadet. Including jacket, red breeches, belt, AND BICORN

Several prestigious French *grandes écoles* maintain a vibrant military tradition, expressed through the wearing of uniforms—sometimes nearly identical to those worn in the second half of the 19th century. This adds greatly to the charm of the Bastille Day parades, where we see students from the École Polytechnique, Saint-Cyr, and other institutions marching in tight formation, carrying sabers or swords and wearing old-fashioned headgear—such as bicornes or plumed shakos—reminiscent of a bygone era.
Until the 1970s, students training to become military doctors wore a uniform very similar to that of the École Polytechnique. For medical students, the collar and cuffs were made of crimson velvet, with a caduceus embroidered on each side of the collar. The breeches were red. Alumni of the school nicknamed it the "Pinder" uniform (after the circus of the same name, known for its rather... flashy costumes).
This uniform was discontinued in 1971 following the merger of the Lyon and Bordeaux schools. It reappeared during the Bastille Day parade in 2026!
It is worn with a bicorne hat; we have included one here—sized for a 55.5 cm head—though it has unfortunately been exposed to the sun and is slightly faded.

The carabiniers were equipped with this helmet and a steel cuirass covered with a sheet of brass for the enlisted men or copper for the officers.

Our helmet is made of brass and steel, copied from a period model. Note the chin straps with their particularly finely crafted domed scales, and the bosses with a star on a radiating background.
Horsehair crest.
Some embellishments on the front plate identify this helmet as belonging to a non-commissioned officer or a junior officer.

Child's naval officer's uniform, made around 1900, in an antique box.

A rare small coat with epaulettes, made in the early 20th century for a child (110 cm tall; 70 cm chest; 41 cm sleeve length).
The red sections are made of leather! There are a few minor, barely noticeable holes in the wool. The price includes only the jacket and the attached epaulettes.
The final photos show the outfit "completed" with a T-shirt and trousers that are not period-accurate; we simply used whatever was at hand to give an idea of ​​how it looks when worn.

The original soft front cover is heavily foxed, though it is the only part in this condition.
The rest of the volume is in good condition, with only very occasional, faint traces of foxing.
The cover features a sun-faded spine with raised bands and gilt lettering; showing signs of normal use, it is a book that has been frequently consulted, yet handled with care.

Sword featuring a cavalry combat motif. The duel between Guindey and Louis of Prussia at Saalfeld?

Gilt-bronze hilt, checkered ebony grip with a mother-of-pearl lozenge in the center, and a fine eagle-head quillon confirming the period of manufacture: the Empire!
Total length 96 cm, including an 83 cm blade (traces of engraving remain, though there is significant oxidation in places).
Lion-head pommel; the guard branch also terminates in two lion heads; no scabbard.
October 10, 1806: Prince Louis of Prussia is killed by *Maréchal-des-Logis* Guindey at Saalfeld.
The small scene depicted on the guard plate appears to relate directly to this episode.
A light cavalryman is shown sabering an officer who holds a pistol in one hand and a saber in the other—a detail that aligns perfectly with the events of the Prussian campaign that proved fatal to King Frederick William's cousin.

Rare set of 89 painted pewter figurines: 49 "Waterloo Regiments" by Franklin Mint + 40 Franklin Mint figurines. Manufactured in 1979–1980.

A fine set of 49 miniature military figures (54mm scale)—out of the original 50—cast in pewter, carefully hand-painted in 1979/1980, and originally issued by The Franklin Mint.
They depict historical figures and troop types from the Battle of Waterloo (1815), designed by Charles Stadden and originally released as part of the "Waterloo Regiments" series.
The collection includes figures representing French, Prussian, and Allied armies (British, Dutch-Belgian, etc.).
The manufacturer's mark of authenticity appears on the underside of the base.
We are including an additional 40 figures of the same size, style, and manufacture.
The set is a bit dusty; it might benefit from a light cleaning.
The uniforms reflect field conditions rather than peacetime parade dress—though that is a matter of personal preference.

Good overall condition; there are minor, inconspicuous paint chips on some figures, notably on one of the two Napoleon figures.
Sold as-is; please purchase with this in mind—if you are looking for items in pristine, brand-new condition, this set is not for you.

Beautiful detailing; a rare set.

Amputation saw for a First Empire surgeon.

A fine period accessory—quite rare—measuring 35 cm in total length with a maximum height of 7.5 cm; there is a small chip at the end of the handle and the blade is missing, but otherwise it is in good condition.
Bone-shattering wounds often led to untreatable infections; surgeons of the Grande Armée became experts at amputating severely damaged limbs to prevent gangrene. This is the type of instrument that was used for such procedures.

The inventory label lists the base fabric color as "blue-grey," but to us, it appears closer to *bleu horizon*—especially given that the heathered fabric is a very fine wool cloth, reserved exclusively for officers' uniforms.

Total length 50 cm, including a 35 cm blade.
Shows some "attic rust"; in original, untouched condition. Functional push-button. Good overall condition.
Blade widens in the final third; marked "Erfurt" at the ricasso.
Hallmarks on the spine, letter "T" on the back of the grip base, and the number "3" engraved in the wood of the grip itself.

Thin belt for holster for Revolver, 1892 type, made by David Freres. Made more than 100 years ago, as new.

We acquired a stock from a supplier active between 1848 and the late 1950s.
These military supplies had been sitting in an attic for over 60 years.
We were delighted to discover numerous military accessories among them, including these belts for "ham-style" holsters; they were wrapped in their original paper and are in near-mint condition.
This is the elusive accessory needed to complete the "ham-style" holster for the Model 1892 revolver. While the leather neck strap is relatively easy to find, this belt is extremely rare. They were worn at navel height—over the tunic—meaning they sat at the widest part of the waist.
Although never used, they have been in storage for over a century; the metal buckles may show slight oxidation, and the leather might benefit from a softening treatment or even a touch of dye—we leave the pleasure of doing this to you, should you wish.

The three pairs featuring a bluish iron-grey background all exhibit slight color variations, reflecting the range of shades used early in the Great War.
The pair with the triangular cut is the darkest.

WWI. Civilian-issue ankle boots, not exactly new.

We acquired these boots over ten years ago from a specialist in Great War equipment to complete a *poilu* (French infantryman) uniform from late 1915.
At that stage of the war, army suppliers were scraping together whatever resources they could find—sometimes even using civilian items—to replace the military-issue gear that French factories were no longer able to produce.
These boots are heavily caked in mud (could it be trench mud?) and are a size 42; however, even if that is your shoe size, you would find it very difficult to actually wear them. They are, however, perfect for outfitting a period mannequin.

Summer uniform for hussar.

During Empire period, hussars sometimes had uniforms made from "nankin"—a blend of wool and cotton—which had the advantage of being far less hot than pure wool.
One of our clients wished to have such an outfit, which, despite its apparent simplicity, is richly embellished with Hungarian-style motifs.

Hussar officer sabre. Adorned blade: "Tout pour l'Empereur"."Toujours au chemin de la gloire". n

We found a sword of the same model in an old collection, a replica of which we are now offering. The blade was engraved: "Tout pour l'Emperereur" (instead of Empereur) on one side and "Toujous au chemin de la gloire" instead of Toujours on the other, demonstrating that even the best cutlers/engravers weren't always fond of spelling. We were quite taken with these (corrected) mottoes and the fine engravings on the guard.
We took an impression of the guard and reworked all the chiseling after casting to ensure its precision.
The fact that this model was very popular among hussar officers finally convinced us to offer a reproduction of this beautiful saber. We will receive an initial batch of 28 sabers in a few days, with the next delivery in a few weeks (to be confirmed). Orders will be served first! The rivet button that can be glimpsed at the top of the pommel will not be cylindrical, but rather truncated conical, which is much more historically accurate.

It consists of a set of grenade badges, all in excellent condition.

Empire Sabre for French general, vendémiaire an XII style

We began to work on this sabre 4 years ago.
It is a synthesis of what was produced for generals, in "vendemiaire an XII" style during Consulat and then Empire.
Cock is here replaced by Eagle, symbol of Empire.
Scabbard in blackened steel is adorned with nice chiselled brass accessories.
Blue and gold blade is also adorned by Imperial eagle and trophies.

We worked about 2 years to obtain blue and gold colour as 2 centuries ago on this french Officer Subalterne Saber.
This sabre equipped officers of imperial guard, especially the "chasseur à cheval de la garde" who had to follow the Emperor and protect him in all situations.
It explains why this sabre is so prestigious.

Gold and red aiguillettes without metal tips. Manufactured prior to 1960. New old stock.

Among the stock held by Établissements David, we discovered several hundred of these aiguillettes—specifically the model widely used by the Republican Guard—featuring a level of quality rarely seen today. They lack their original metal tips (ferrules), giving you the option to fit them with different styles—perhaps from other eras or units, such as those used by certain non-commissioned officers in the Imperial Guard.
As they have never been worn, they are in brand-new condition.

Sous ce titre, ce sont les lettres publiées en 1815-1816 par le docteur Warden sur la transportation de Napoléon à Sainte-Hélène et les premiers mois
de son séjour dans l’île, et les Lettres du Cap, écrites et publiées en réponse par Napoléon en 1817.
Très rare édition française des conversations de Napoléon avec le Docteur William Warden.
Warden était médecin à bord du Northumberland, le vaisseau qui emporta l'Empereur à Sainte Hélène.
Lors du voyage, l'Empereur eut l'occasion d'apprécier les qualités de ce médecin anglais, et une fois arrivés à Sainte Hélène, ils se rencontrerent à de nombreuses reprises pour parler de sujets divers, sur lesquels l'Empereur n'hésita pas à lui répondre de manière circonstanciée.
Petit à petit "l'ogre" fait tomber le médecin sous son charme, et bien que ce dernier reste loyal à son pays, il embrasse parfois les vues du prisonnier, tout en conservant des a priori que la propagande britannique a ressassés durant près de 20 ans.
C'est un témoignage en tous cas très intéressant, et rare, du point de vue de "l'ennemi héréditaire", qui est à la fois repoussé et fasciné par un personnage exceptionnel dans l'histoire de l'humanité.

This is fortunate, as this is often the small part missing when one unearths a period piece, and adding these chin straps instantly enhances the item's value.
The leather is very supple. There are no markings, of course, since these items were never officially accepted into military service.

19 german banknotes from 1910 to 1937

A collection of German banknotes, the oldest dating from 1910 with a face value of 100 marks—a substantial sum at the time—along with ten other 100-mark notes from 1920, and so on.
Note the 1-million-mark note, which dates from the period of German hyperinflation, when prices would rise several times a day.
A wheelbarrow full of banknotes was barely enough to buy a loaf of bread.
It was a nightmarish period that traumatized the German people, who have been careful to keep inflation under control ever since.

Attractive patinated silver appearance; 38 mm in diameter, except for the 1906 issue, which measures slightly over 39 mm.
Why offer these copies? It is essentially because of the date appearing on some of the coins: 1804, the year of the Emperor's coronation.
These coins bear witness to a country that had just broken free from British rule—a nation that was then a minor power but would soon go on to impress the world.

Set of 5 fine antique-style copies of ancient coins.

In the 1970s, a family member was living in Lebanon.
Young men would offer interested buyers coins said to come from ships that had sunk near ancient sites.
Lebanon is home to so many archaeological treasures that the story seemed plausible; moreover, the coins were beautiful and were mixed in with other, completely authentic ones.
An expert consulted recently quickly shattered the illusion... they are copies—too beautiful to be genuine.
While we may never find the real period coins, we are offering this small set to you at a modest price.

This lot includes a folder published by Tangerine Press containing the "Quarter" collection—authentic US quarter-dollar coins issued between 1999 and 2008, each representing one of the American states (though Alaska appears to be missing). Helmet for 100 gardes, second Empire.

One of the most beautiful helmets that was used in the French army.
It equipped an elite unit which was responsible for the protection of Emperor Napoleon III.
Numbers were limited.
In total, 533 non-commissioned officers and guards served in the squadron during the sixteen years of its existence, suffice to say that this original helmet is very rare...Hence the desire to make it a beautiful copy so that those who will never be able to afford a real one can complete their collection.


For a head circumference of 58 cm maximum.
We are not currently planning to make this helmet in larger head sizes, in order to keep the period proportions, but in the event that we are asked to make outfits that would require the supply of larger helmets. .the situation would have to be considered.

Manufacturer: Nicolas, 82 Rue des Petits Champs, Place Vendôme. Produced during the Third Republic, this is the model known as the 1852–1870 pattern.
The metal parts show oxidation, except for the anchors, which were protected by their gilding. Otherwise, the condition is impeccable.

Tricolor knitted bands - Old French manufacturing - Per meter

Mayoral sashes are now made from ribbons very similar to those used for inaugurations.

Previously, they were made of knit fabric, which conformed better to the shape of the body and could be worn across the body or around the waist.
During the French Revolution, the People's Commissars wore tricolor sashes.
We have found a limited amount of this knit fabric in the stock of Éts David, which is both stable in its width and flexible in its length. Take advantage of this opportunity.

In the stock of the David company, active from 1848, we found brass numerals painted in red and also in blue.
Each badge has a thin brass mounting pin on the back that can easily be cut in half to fold it over the back.

These badges were used to indicate regimental numbers for troops changing assignments or for re-enlisted sergeants, particularly on kepis. This avoids having to remove the kepi to change the number; the embroidery is simply undone and replaced with a badge.
Some numerals are completely missing from the stock.
6 and 9 are represented by the same numeral; simply rotate it to obtain both options.
