From time to time, we acquire sets of "Aries" plates, though the number of plates varies.
These plates were originally sent to subscribers who received them as they were released.
Some subscribers dropped out before the series was complete, passed away, or felt that all the topics of interest to them had been covered, and so on.
The set we are offering here is arguably the most complete one we have ever listed.
The previous owner appears to have been a friend of Mr. C. Aries; they corresponded, and Aries even inscribed the index for him.
It was only Mr. Aries's death that brought the acquisition of the plates to a halt.
We found a few photocopies of plates in this lot—sometimes multiple copies of the same plate—and have removed the duplicates.
While we cannot guarantee that this set contains 100% of all published plates, it is certainly possible; in any case, it is an essential collection for historians and reenactors who want the best possible information.
At our selling price, EACH PLATE WORKS OUT TO LESS THAN 2 EUROS—a price far removed from the original cost of these plates, which were the result of an unprecedented level of scholarly research...
