  • Red enameled stars for the wounded. Made by Ets David before 1928. Price per unit

WOUNDED STAR. WOUNDED BADGE. We are offering a limited stock from the David company, which bears an inventory entry dated February 1928; these stars are therefore of earlier manufacture. They measure 1 cm from point to point, are red enamel on a brass background, and have two attachment tabs on the back.
This badge was created during the conflicts of the First World War, by decree of July 27, 1916.
It is a five-pointed star, enameled in bright red, which is placed on the ribbon of the commemorative medal for the campaign in which the wound was received.
For each wound, a red star was added to the ribbon.
The ribbon, on a white background, has seven vertical stripes, including a central red stripe, bordered on either side by a yellow stripe, a blue stripe, and a wider blue stripe at the edge.

When the Great War Commemorative Medal was created in 1920, the star (or stars) symbolizing wounds was placed on the ribbon. This practice continued in subsequent conflicts. In fact, the decoration (cloth and medal) was no longer to be worn as a separate unit once the medal for the specific conflict was created and the star was added to the cloth. With the recent creation of the French Commemorative Medal (decree of October 9, 1995), this technical issue is resolved. However, the fact that this medal is systematically awarded for all operations leads to the application of the same rule when participation in a particular conflict is rewarded with the Overseas Medal. This is an insignia, not a medal. The number of stars worn corresponds to the number of wounds.

Limited stock from the David company, active between 1848 and the early 1960s. Width 14 mm from arm to arm. Gold-plated brass.
The pentagram can take on a variety of symbolic meanings in various contexts, including Pythagorean, religious, Masonic, and universal traditions.

It is linked to the number 5, the star, the initiated man, and the secret center of matter.
Its meaning is particularly important in spirituality, esotericism, and occultism.
We leave the choice of its use to you.
A few minor traces of oxidation, barely visible to the naked eye.

  • 100 Fr Bonaparte note against the backdrop of the painting by David that inspired him.

Napoleon never had a French banknote bearing his portrait, nor a Paris street named after him.
Bonaparte, on the other hand, was much more respectable, and he was entitled to both...
The banknote depicting him is polychrome and printed intaglio.
Bonaparte's choice was obvious since he founded the Banque de France in 1800.
Clément Serveau took as his model the Unfinished Portrait of Bonaparte, a painting by Jacques-Louis David painted in 1798.

The first banknote, the 10,000 franc Bonaparte, was issued on December 1, 1955, and put into circulation on December 11, 1956, by the Banque de France.
On October 30, 1958, following the transition to the Fifth Republic and the introduction of the "New Franc," which saw the value of the franc multiplied by 100, the banknotes issued that day were overprinted with the red inscription « contre-valeur de 100 nouveaux francs ». These banknotes are rare and expensive.

Later, banknotes of this model bore the inscription 100 NF on the front and 100 on the back, within the frames indicating their values.
Printed from March 1959 to April 1964, this banknote ceased to be legal tender on April 30, 1971.
We offer one copy of this banknote in a frame that showcases it ,and will find its place in a Napoleonic collection.
