We have amassed thousands of buttons—some of clear historical significance—spanning turbulent periods of French history.
We decided to create a set of four display frames featuring iconic buttons from the last two centuries.
The first is a button from the Empire period, originally worn by the *Canonniers Sédentaires* (Stationary Gunners) of Lille—an institution established in 1483.
Buttons from the *Garde Nationale Mobile* (Mobile National Guard) represent the Second Republic and the early Third Republic.
We also feature buttons from Saharan troops—reflecting France's colonial past—as well as Vichy police buttons... a wide-ranging collection.
The view of the backs allows you to see the different types of shanks used over time.
Almost all of these buttons are over 50 years old.
The ambassador buttons are modern productions but were made using an antique die.
The Second Empire Imperial Guard buttons are restrikes; however, the original die has been lost, so no further batches will be produced.
Each frame (pre-owned) can be wall-mounted or displayed on a desk; the buttons are mounted on "Empire Green" grained leather with a padded backing.
