Snap hook for attachment loop - 2.2 cm opening - Old french Manufacturing - Sold individually
Belt-hanger snap hook, early 20th century.
These snap hooks were used by the cavalry during the 1914–1918 war, and later for the "Model 31" belt for exemple.
The attachment loop accommodates a width of 2.2 cm inside.
Height: 5.4 cm
Available in three versions:
Gilt brass
Brass
Nickel-plated steel
These snap hooks are oxidized; they are made of either brass or nickel-plated steel. While the brass versions can be restored using a metal polish (such as "Mirror") and a bit of elbow grease, the nickel-plated ones will remain damaged.
Furthermore, these snap hooks have been in storage for over 80 years, and the oxidation has become embedded in the moving parts. While the top clip mechanism is usually only slightly seized, the lower swiveling section is typically firmly jammed; forcing it to regain its mobility—though possible—is not recommended.
