Elle est remplacée par la Gendarmerie Impériale de Paris pour la sécurité de la capitale le 10 Août 1813.
Le décret de formation date en fait du 8 Avril et pendant 3 mois ce sont les éléments dissous de la Légion de Gendarmerie de Burgos qui font le service dans la capitale.
Cette nouvelle unité est directement placée sous les ordres du préfet de Police.
Ce corps aura la droite sur toute la Gendarmerie après la Gendarmerie d' Élite et incorpore beaucoup d' anciens de la Gendarmerie d' Espagne.
La durée de vie de cette formation est très courte puisque l'empereur abdique

At the end of Empire, soldiers were sent back home and paid half of what they received when they were soldiers (demi solde).
They liked to show that they still loved the emperor and used to sew at least one button of this type on their jackets.
