Cartouche box plate of the Paris National Guard (under the command of Lafayette).LA NATION, LE ROI, LA LOI
A (very) rare reproduction of a Paris National Guard cartridge box plate. Produced via electroforming—meaning it is made of copper—and finished with a thin layer of gold-colored coating.
The definition of the relief details is somewhat softened, but we currently have no alternative finishing method available.
Sold as-is.
It bears the motto "LA NATION, LE ROI, LA LOI" (The Nation, the King, the Law) above the coat of arms of Paris, flanked by two cannons.
Width: 12 cm.
Naturally, the motto changed once the monarchy was abolished!
Lafayette commanded the National Guard prior to the transition to a republican regime.
