Commander's badge of the Legion of Honour, Second Empire. With a more recent neck ribbon, but of the correct pattern.

  1. Out of stock

The decoration is indeed Second Empire, but the center is not made of gold!
This type of piece—without a gold center—was indeed manufactured, though it is rarer than the gold-centered versions.
From a collector's standpoint, it ought to be more valuable; however, the absence of gold reduces the price compared to the €1,200–€1,500 range commanded by the gold-centered version.
It measures 60 mm in diameter.
We have paired it with a more modern ribbon, though it is the correct style for the piece.
Beautiful craftsmanship; in good condition, save for minor enamel repairs that are virtually invisible to the naked eye.
The design is very close to that of the First Empire; the bow beneath the laurel wreath tie is nearly identical to the First Empire version.
Only the small eagles on the wreath mark a significant difference.
Only one example in stock.
