Dagger for junior officers of french air force, 1934 type, modified 1954 - copie
Quadrangular rocket-shaped handle made of very dark blue plastic...which actually appears black.
26 cm straight blade with a ricasso bordered by two curved rods/springs ensuring the blade is locked in place, manufacturer's markings.
Overall length: 410 mm
Sheath covered in thin imitation leather, some scratches, 3 brass fittings, two small suspension rings.
Model created for Air Force non-commissioned officers before World War II, adopted on July 20, 1934.
In 1954, the Air Force Commissariat's manufacturing department (SFCA) produced the dagger and made several minor modifications, notably the addition of small metal strips serving as springs to attach the sheath to the dagger.
Finally, in 1979, for the sake of simplification, senior non-commissioned officers and majors received the same dagger (white handle) as officers. A variant was introduced in 1979.
