Genuine infantry saber briquet 1789-1792, with new scabbard

  1. Out of stock

New scabbard.
Described in tome III of "des sabres et des épées" of Michel Petard.
No 291 page 110.Typical hilt 13,5 cm high instead of 15.

No inscription as often during revolution "Manuf Rle du Klingenthal mars 1816" and 3 stamps.

Total length 70 cm, blade 56 cm.

This was kind of the "Swiss Army knife" of the Empire soldier. It was used to chop wood as well as to cut up food. Although they were absolutely useless when fighting against cavalry sabres, infantrymen would nevertheless hold on to it. Complies with contemporary rules.
