Helmet for 100 gardes, second Empire.
One of the most beautiful helmets that was used in the French army.
It equipped an elite unit which was responsible for the protection of Emperor Napoleon III.
Numbers were limited.
In total, 533 non-commissioned officers and guards served in the squadron during the sixteen years of its existence, suffice to say that this original helmet is very rare...Hence the desire to make it a beautiful copy so that those who will never be able to afford a real one can complete their collection.
Our future production, will be available in a few months. At the moment you cannot pre-order them, we want to ensure the final quality before offering them for sale.
For a head circumference of 58 cm maximum.
We are not currently planning to make this helmet in larger head sizes, in order to keep the period proportions, but in the event that we are asked to make outfits that would require the supply of larger helmets. .the situation would have to be considered.
Squadron of cent-gardes à cheval, currently named l'escadron des cent-gardes or more simply cent-gardes was created by an imperial decree in 1854, it was dissolved in October 1870 after the defeat of Sedan.
Made up exclusively of large, experienced horsemen, the squadron of the Hundred Guards escorted the emperor on horseback in his public appearances, and provided guard for him and his family in the imperial palaces and during their travels. Their tall stature and their brilliant uniform gave them great prestige.
