Authentic light cavalry saber
Leather-covered hilt with filigree. Brass mount.
Hilt with 3 branches and 2 lugs. 97 cm, blade 83 cm, no particular markings, just what looks like a saw cut (see last photo), repeated at the same level on the blade and scabbard, the significance of which is unknown.
The scabbard is heavily oxidized and cleaned; it protected the blade well. It is the correct model used during the First Empire, i.e., flat on the upper edge.
Used during the Empire and until the beginning of the restoration.
