Medal of chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, with fine border lines, jeweler-made model. Second Empire.
A pattern quite similar to the final versions from the First Empire.
The main difference lies in the vertical positioning of the two ends of the ribbon beneath the laurel wreath.
Under the First Empire, these ends were angled at approximately 45 degrees.
Following the proclamation of the Second Empire (December 2, 1852), small eagles replaced the palm fronds on the wreath surmounting the cross.
Dimensions 45 x 45 mm; small chip in the enamel on one side of an arm, otherwise in very good condition.
