Nimcha saber (Morocco) with European blade from the early 19th century.
A traditional Moroccan saber, which can sometimes be quite ordinary, but is occasionally fitted with (very) old blades of various origins.
This is the case with this one, on whose blade one can still distinguish engravings such as a double arc adorned with small flowers on the ricasso, and what could resemble an eagle's wing. The painter David, who designed the swords of the School of Mars, also had a project for a richly decorated saber based on a Nimcha saber, a project that does not appear to have been fully realized. Repair to the bronze guard (see photo), overall length 97 cm. No scabbard.
