A fine "regulation" sword, featuring a guard plate characteristic of the evolution of sword hilts from the Revolution to the end of the Empire.
The guard plate was lyre-shaped and symmetrical under the Ancien Régime—as is the case with the model offered here.
It would later narrow in the section resting against the body—to the point where, by the end of the Empire, this part was often almost entirely cut away to avoid hindering movement.
The design reached the end of this evolutionary process with the inner guard plate, which remained only as a vestigial element in late Empire and Restoration versions.

Once fitted with a new scabbard, this sword can be used for historical reenactment.
PLEASE NOTE: while the blade was indeed designed for combat, that was over 200 years ago!
If you break it while using it for combat, we will not replace it.
