Postilion's badge, second in rank, from the horse-drawn post inn in Vis (-en-Artois), a town located now Pas-de-Calais, between Arras and Cambrai.
This inn was located on Route Nationale 39 (present-day D939).
Some attributes of the Revolution can be recognized: compass, Phrygian cap, and the initials RF of the First Republic. Badges from this period are rare.
