Sabre briquet, Empire type, made by Manufacture de VERSAILLES. Used during restoration.

Engravings on guard. VERSAILLES and stamps AC (for Antoine Chapet) et JC (for Jean Casamajou) working in manufacture de Versailles from 1807 to 1815
New scabbard.
Blade with numerous inscriptions, includind "Manuf Rle du Klingenthal Mars 1817" and stamp of Bick contrôleur from 5 mai 1815 to 1825.

Total length 730 mm, blade 585 mm.

This was kind of the "Swiss Army knife" of the Empire soldier. It was used to chop wood as well as to cut up food. Although they were absolutely useless when fighting against cavalry sabres, infantrymen would nevertheless hold on to it. Complies with contemporary rules.
