Sabre briquet, Empire type, made by Manufacture de Versailles, with new scabbard.

Original guard, blade is not at regulation type, but many sabres "Briquet" had blades from various origins.
New scabbard, to use in re enactment...or collection.

Total length 75 cm, blade 61 cm.

This was kind of the "Swiss Army knife" of the Empire soldier. It was used to chop wood as well as to cut up food. Although they were absolutely useless when fighting against cavalry sabres, infantrymen would nevertheless hold on to it. Complies with contemporary rules.
