Sabre for artillery officer. 1882/99 type. WWI
Beautiful 90 cm curved blade, with some superficial oxidation.
Marked with Backes on the heel, this is therefore a so-called "commercial" weapon, purchased directly by the officer from a swordmaker.
Guard with slightly coppery brass mount and two chiseled secondary branches.
Short tang edged with a garland of laurel leaves.
Knuckle arch chiseled with a rosette and small acanthus leaves.
Beak-shaped guard plate decorated with a palmette.
Iron scabbard with a strap. Attic rust.
Good overall condition. In its original condition. Needs cleaning.
