Sabre for staff officer. Circa 1900
OLD PRICE: €395!
A saber featuring a "reed-back" blade (with a rounded spine), a style uncommon in French production.
The scabbard leather is very fine, and the fittings are remarkably thin for a military weapon; however, the throat piece is of a specific design intended to accommodate this type of blade.
Military sabers have long since ceased to serve any combat function.
This saber is therefore a "commercial" model, originally fitted with a lightweight scabbard—though the leather may have been replaced at some point.
The combined weight of the saber and scabbard is just 853g. Its total length is 100 cm.
It features a beautiful, chased bronze hilt that is very pleasing to the eye. A rare find.
