Special lot for hobbyists: Louis XV sword and engraved saber blade
We found this fine Louis XV sword missing its pommel; we have paired it with a period-correct pommel matching the 1767 uniform sword pattern—also dating to the Louis XV era.
You will need to attach it to the tang yourself, if you want. The blade is short (60 cm) but authentic to the period; it features a robust diamond cross-section and measures 35 mm in width at the base of the ricasso.
The weapon's total length is 78 cm; as a reminder, not all officers were tall, and blades were typically proportioned to the height of the men who carried them.
We are also including a 655 mm saber blade, engraved on both sides with various symbols and letters of unknown meaning.
The tang is not original, and we cannot guarantee the blade's authenticity; however, the set is affordably priced, and the blade would look impressive mounted on a small late-18th-century infantry saber.
