Glaive d'origine inconnue?

Very beautiful senior officer's swordknots, attribution unknown, circa 1900
In the production of the David companys, there were supplies intended for numerous armies spread across the planet.
Sometimes we managed to clearly identify the army for which these supplies were intended....Sometimes not.
Here are some beautiful swordknots that would love nothing more than to adorn the sabers or swords of senior officers.
-
Swordknots from different countries, only one per type, price per unit

"Bedside" sword
A so-called "bedside" sword, so named because it was placed at the head of the bed to have a weapon at hand in case of attack.
The blade and lower part of the guard are a single piece. The filigree has disappeared.
The blade is heavily oxidized; the overall sword is approximately 300 years old and may show some signs of wear.
Total length 82 cm

Sword for staff officer with eagle and 2 crowns. First Empire.
Officer's sword, period piece, bronze hilt, adorned with an eagle resting on two shields, one adorned with the Iron Crown, symbol of the Kingdom of Italy, and the other with the Imperial Crown.
Napoleon was indeed Emperor of the French and King of Italy, but also protector of the Confederation of the Rhine and mediator of the Swiss Confederation... all by the grace of God and the constitutions! After all!
The hilt is made of checkered wood.
The blade is very thin, 12 mm wide at the heel, and is clearly a salvage from a much older sword, a real needle.
The penultimate owner of this sword wanted to cut the blade to make a screwdriver... It was narrowly saved.
The scabbard is new, so this sword can be used for reenactment. The fittings are not exactly true to size, nor are the leather stitching. The price is commensurate with this defect, for this rare and sought-after sword model.
Total length: 91 cm, including a 77 cm blade.

Sabre for officer of "garde nationale", Louis Philippe period, same guard as briquets de la Garde Impériale
Historical and original piece.
Military personnel are keen on tradition and like to revive the glorious past of their ancestors. This is how weapons belonging to prestigious corps found themselves recycled or reproduced decades after their abandonment as standard weapons.
Here's a good example: this briquet saber of the foot grenadier of the Imperial Guard, reused under Louis Philippe, notably by the National Guard.
The object is over 170 years old, which gives it a beautiful patina. The blade is shorter than that of the Empire briquet, measuring 67 cm for a total length of 80 cm.
It is pleasantly decorated with floral motif engravings
The scabbard is also period-correct.

Military justice officer's sword. Late Empire/Restoration
This sword style is more typical of the Restoration period or the very end of the Empire.
The scales of justice, whose manifestation of justice is exercised by means of a particularly massive club, seem to allow us to attribute this beautiful sword to a military justice officer.
The scabbard leather has been roughly repaired, not far from the clasp.
If you take the blade out while holding the sword horizontally, without support, you are almost certain to break the leather again at the repair.
So do not use this sword for reenactment, or have a second scabbard made and keep the first for your collection.
Very good overall condition. Total length 97 cm including blade 84 cm

-
Briquet 1816 type. Sold in one hour
A solid, 28-groove hilt of the model used from the Empire to the Restoration.
The 1816 model differs from the Empire-Specific model in small, difficult-to-identify details.
Unless you place it directly next to an Empire model to examine it inch by inch, you won't notice the difference.
The original scabbard with its very narrow trigger guard is true to the model and still very solid, worthy of use in reenactment, which is not common at all.
The whole is "in its original condition," very original, but there are no hallmarks or markings on the blade or guard.
One of the rare weapons from the First Empire, or very close to it, at a price that remains very reasonable.
Total length 730 mm, including a blade of 585 mm.
It's a bit like the "Swiss Army knife" of the Imperial soldier, used for slicing wood as well as cutting food. Although almost ineffective against cavalry sabers, the infantry were nevertheless very attached to them.270,00 €

Lot of 2 mounted artillry sabre, trooper, 1829 type. Transformed in a "looking like" oriental sabre by suppressing part of guard
1829 type. We found 2 of them with partly cut branch of guard.
Maybe it was done for a use as oriental sabre?
All parts are original
Blade (81,2 cm),
On one blade, texte is unreadable, and end of blade is slightly oxydized in its last part.
On the other one text on blade is perfectly readable, but last 4 cm are very oxydized.
No Scabbard.

Heavy cavalry sabre for officer. Circa 1900
Our first impression when we first held this sword was rather negative.
The leather of the scabbard is very fine, roughly finished, and its trimmings are really thin for a military weapon, we were leaning towards a good piece, equipped with a totally adequate scabbard. Except that this saber is equipped with a rush blade, not common, and that the cover is of a specific model to allow the passage of such a blade.
After all, it has been a long time since the sabers that equip our military no longer have any combat function.
This saber is therefore probably a so-called "commercial" model which was originally equipped with a light scabbard, the leather of which has been redone.
The saber and scabbard assembly weighs only 853 grams. Its total length is 100 cm.
Beautiful chiseled bronze handle, very pleasing to see. Uncommon

Sword for artistical fencing
Unusual type of sword for artistical fencing.
Handle is particularly elaborate, the cup to protect the hands is of a model never encountered before, in a somewhat Art Deco style.
The blade is indeed a good fencing blade, designed for combat...but old, which means that it can last 10 years or break from the first touches, so we cannot guarantee it.
Two copies on sale.
